Rick's Pick: HECS STEALTHSCREEN Garments
By: Rick Philippi
HECS STEALTHSCREEN hit the market a few years ago and I must admit that I had my doubts whether this product actually worked. I usually will field test a product extensively before I put my name on it and make it a part of my column. So I got a suit and started wearing it to see for myself if it was advertising hype or really did what the manufacturer claimed.
The last two years I have put HECS to the test. I have worn it on all of my many hunts and there is definitely something unique to this product. I can report unequivocally that the animals were much calmer and more relaxed when I was in close proximity to them. I had dozens and dozens of close encounters with all types of wildlife and they acted as though I did not exist. This is something I had honestly never witnessed before. Even when I made a good shot, most of the time there was a sense of urgency because in most instances the game seems to be on high alert. Not always, but most of the time the game just seemed cautious. I pretty much chalked this behavior up to an animal’s natural instinct. Prey animals are ALWAYS cautious and constantly on the lookout for predators. But they seemed much more relaxed and at ease when I was close and wearing HECS.
This old boar never knew the author was within five yards.
It is a known fact that we give off energy and it’s been proven animals are aware of it, have the ability to sense this. This sure explains a lot we hunters can attest to. HECS clothing scientifically keeps these EMFs from being dispersed in a way the game can detect them. Let me explain how HECS works.
This buck was at six yards and fooled by HECS
The scientific fact is that all living things emit a faint electric signal. Through scientific experimentation it has been proven that animals have the ability to detect these faint electromagnetic signals. A conductive grid known as a ‘Faraday cage’ has been show to block these signals. Here is where the HECS clothing comes in. HECS creates a Faraday Cage through a patented weave design including carbon fiber. HECS is made of 14% carbon yarn and 86% polyester in a special weave construction that breaks up or blocks most of the EMF. HECS works much like the special shield on your microwave oven but it is also very quiet, lightweight, and extremely comfortable. Real plusses for us hunters. The first time I put on my HECS suit it felt awesome! It was so light and flexible, I did not know I had it on. What is cool, this product can be worn as an under or outer layer.
HECS STEALTHSCREEN garments for hunting are now available in Mossy Oak Break Up camouflage pattern.
After my two years of field testing HECS I can say that I have seen many animals in close proximity much more relaxed and not on edge. This product is a game changer. If you are a hunter or wildlife photographer wearing HECS is a no brainer. I also look at it this way, we spend hundreds of dollars every year for camouflage, treestands and blinds, scent eliminators and lures so we can get closer to the game we hunt. I would personally use anything if I thought it would make me a better, more successful hunter and this is why I tried HECS in the first place. My conclusion: HECS works and it is now a part of hunting gear. I never go into the woods without HECS. Go to www.hecsllc.com to check out their informative web site and watch some of their videos. If you give HECS a try I think you’ll be saying the same thing I have been saying. HECS works!
